I personally hold enough mobile broadband (three different plans/carriers) to touch every single wireless network in the country (roaming included). The mifi is smart enough to use all antennas present to achieve it.Ī better thing to chase is getting several mobile broadband plans across several different carriers. ![]() It's a good choice as well.ĭon't get too hung up on spacial diversity. You will need a sandbag hanging on your tripod to prevent turn over in winds.Īlternatively, get that netgear 2xMIMO TS9 window mountable antenna. I do it all the time, but not chasing tornadoes. This will help downloads and greatly help uploads. A high gain antenna makes almost every single spot in the country viable for telecommunications. Low band spectrum is widely deployed and available quite literally everywhere. This is a great solution for closing links in a hurry in rural america. Get the Wilson 700mhz yagi antenna and a single TS9 male to N male pigtail adapter. If the answer is external antennas, which would you most recommend for my vehicle? Mag mounts are preferred, but if there was some much better that wasn't mag mount, I would at least be open to considering if there was a reasonable and cost effective way of attaching them to the car. What's my best route? 1) Cell booster, 2) external antennas connected to the 8800L, or 3) Just the 8800L by intself with the 4x4 internal antennas? If I want to make sure I'm getting the fastest download speeds (not concerned with upload) when I'm out in the middle of nowhere Western Oklahoma or West Tx, etc. I was southwesst of Childress, TX this past weekend chasing a tornado and had almost not data, which means I'm also flying blind without being able to download radar data.Īll of that said, this is my question. Like most people I get plenty of signal and good download speeds in metro areas, but I'm most concerned about losing data in remote rural areas where I chase tornados. I have read on other's blogs that getting 2 external antennas and connecting them directly into the jetpack may be best. ![]() Upon doing further research on the 8800L it appears the 4x4 Mimo antennta inside of the device is pretty great, and that my cell booster may actually do more harm than good to download speeds. I have a SureCall Fusion2Go 3.0 Cell Phone Signal Booster installed in my Honda pilot with the interior antenna up on the dash and the mag mount antenna on the back of my roof. ![]() I'm a storm chaser, and just upgraded my jetpack to the 8800L by Verizon. I'm newer to reddit and am doing some research on external antennas for my vehicle to help my get better data speeds in my car with the Verizon 8800L jetpack.
